10-Point Check
In order to keep your scooter working properly and safely, you should check it regularly – we recommend you give it a quick 10-Point Check every 6-8 weeks. 1. Horn – Check this is still operating effectively, especially if you haven’t used it very often. A weak horn can indicate the battery charge is low. 2. Lights & Indicators – Check all are working properly by switching them on and off, and verifying that they switch on and off as they should. 3. Brakes – Check your scooter responds effectively and immediately when you release the thumb throttle, and again when you apply the brakes. 4. Battery – Check the battery is fully charged and charging properly if you haven’t used your scooter for a while. Click here for our Battery Maintenance guide. 5. Tyre Condition – Check that you have plenty of tread on the tyres and they are wearing evenly, if not then you need to adjust your tyre pressure. 6. Tyre Pressure – Keep your scooter’s tyres inflated to manufacturers’ recommendations. 7. Seat & Arm Rest Fixings – Check all screws and nobs are still securely fastened. 8. Scooter Body – Visually check the body of your scooter for any unusual bumps or scrapes (ones you may have not done yourself!) in case further repair work is required. 9. Mirrors – Sit in the seat and adjust the mirrors so that you can see clearly behind and to the left and right of your scooter. 10. Accessories – Check these are all securely fastened. |
